This report investigates 463 threats of attacks, attempted attacks, or completed attacks on venues of LGBTQ+ public assembly from across the globe. Of these instances, while only “four or more dead or injured reached 24 incidents in the U.S., these attacks accounted for 124 (59.6%) of global deaths and 448 (34.9%) of global injuries.” These True Mass Attacks were only the tip of the ice burg, and attacks of varying severity are rising dramatically (more than doubling since 2012) pointing to a global backlash against LGBTQ+ people in most parts of the world.
