This paper investigates the distribution of homicides across the year in Minneapolis by plotting the intervals of peacefulness between homicide incidents. Data shows the drop in peacefulness began in tandem with the “stay-at-home order,” but was exacerbated by the civil unrest. Since that time, peacefulness has been increasing as we approach the end of the year, despite a reduction in the number of patrol staffing throughout the city.
